ASIA PACIFIC REGIONAL MEETING A THUMPING SUCCESS

Posted on 19th November 2018

This year’s Asia Pacific Regional Meeting in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) was attended by 3 partners of the firm (Loong Caesar, Chew Yushen and Eow Khean Fatt) together with 30 other lawyers from all member jurisdictions in the region. Arguably, this was one of the best meetings ever held in Asia Pacific where the idea of holding regional meetings of the network was first mooted in Hong Kong.

In his address to the attendees, Alfonso Gonzalez, Ally’s President said that APAC meetings were characterised by their practical approach to problem solving and the cohesiveness of its members. Membership in APAC grew this year with the inclusion of new members from Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia but sadly saw the departure of long-standing member, Kemp Strang of Sydney.

This year’s regional was hosted by LNT & Partners and discussed a number of topics ranging from Franchising in Asia, Developments in Alternative Dispute Resolution and IP Protection. Guest speaker Vu Vy Thuy of Sonkim Land, a major property developer, spoke about the booming property market in Ho Chi Minh City and prospects for foreign investment here.
