Chew Yu Shen, LL.B

is a senior legal practitioner and one of the founding partners of RLSE.

He graduated from Hull University in 1998 and began his legal career in 1999/ 2000 with the intellectual property department of Skrine focusing primarily on technology and telecoms law. During his years as a legal associate and subsequently senior legal associate at Skrine, he advised both local and foreign banks in the implementation of their internet banking services in Malaysia as well as acted for established service providers and customers in several large and complex IT outsourcing deals. Since leaving Skrine in 2006, his areas of practice and in depth experience expanded to include corporate and commercial law, real estate law as well as banking and finance law.

In the area of corporate and commercial law, he regularly represents private and public listed companies in mergers and acquisitions exercises as well as joint-venture transactions. He also regularly drafts and negotiates a whole range of commercial contracts for companies involved in a variety of businesses, including manufacturing, trading, retail, services, construction and building materials. In the area of real estate law, he acts for renowned and established property developers in the acquisition and disposal of land for development as well as other clients in the acquisition and disposal of commercial buildings and hotels. In the area of banking and finance law, he represents major financial institutions and a finance company in significant corporate and commercial loans as well as private debt securities transactions.

Yu Shen has published a number of legal articles, some in international publications such as “E-commerce and Telecommunications in Malaysia” in The New Project Finance for Asia (Euromoney Publication), The Malaysian chapter on “Telecommunications Law” in The Preston Gates Guide to Telecommunications in Asia, 2004 edition (Asia Law & Practice Publication) and “Intellectual Property Rights & Remedies in Malaysia” published in World Intellectual Property Rights & Remedies (Oceana Publications).

Today, as one of the managing partners of RLSE, Yu Shen together with his team of qualified and experienced lawyers advise clients with wide ranging backgrounds and from different industries.
