Ryan Jaafar, LL.B

Ryan is a dispute resolution and commercial practitioner whose litigation background is complemented by experience advising senior leaders on strategy, governance and organisational matters.

He read law at the University of Reading, completed the Bar Professional Training Course at BPP Law School in London, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2017 as a member of Lincoln’s Inn. On his return to Malaysia, he was admitted to the High Court of Malaya in 2017 and practised as a litigator in the Dispute Resolution department of Skrine until 2021, where he acted in a broad range of contentious matters spanning insolvency, banking, corporate, commercial and shareholder disputes, and appeared at all court levels including the Court of Appeal and Federal Court.

Between 2021 and 2026, Ryan broadened his commercial perspective at the global management consultancy, advising boards and executive teams on strategy, transformation and governance. He returned to legal practice in 2026 and also serves as independent legal adviser to the Malaysian Productivity Corporation. His combined legal and commercial background allows him to advise clients not only on matters of law, but also on the broader questions of governance, risk and execution.
